Welcome to Common Thread Studio — where a simple hobby became a heartfelt mission to share the joy of sewing with the next generation. Our studio is a space where kids feel seen, inspired, and capable.
I searched for direction through traditional education and career paths, but what I found was unexpected: I just wanted to sew. With few resources available locally, I taught myself after college, slowly stitching together a skill that became a calling.
Later, while raising and homeschooling our five young children, I began teaching kids to sew from our home studio. As interest grew, so did the vision — and the need for a dedicated space. Today, Common Thread Studio lives in a new commercial location, where we teach sewing with intention, creativity, and care.
Our studio is more than a place to learn — it's a community that celebrates childhood, encourages imagination, and equips kids with a timeless skill that builds confidence, patience, and joy.
Sewing is more than a craft. It's a powerful tool for building resilience, creativity, and connection. Children who sew learn to problem-solve, strengthen fine motor skills, and bring their ideas to life with their own hands. For many, it opens doors to new interests and even future passions.
In a fast-moving world, sewing invites kids to slow down — to think, dream, and create. Our small, personal classes are designed to foster connection, belonging, and encouragement in every stitch.
